Business - Accounting

ONTARIO COLLEGE DIPLOMA

Combining top-notch academic and practical experience, the Business Accounting Diploma facilitates skills and knowledge to meet the demands of the business world, including:

  • a solid background in standard accounting practices and a broad business perspective
  • expertise in word processing, spreadsheets and personal income tax software
  • communication skills, which are critical for advising business owners and managers

The Diploma is equivalent to Sheridan’s two-year Ontario College Diploma in Business Accounting. Graduates with this diploma may also apply for entry into the third year of Sheridan’s full-time Business Administration -  Accounting program which provides in-depth accounting knowledge and a broad business education covering the basics of management, business communications, business simulation, and more.

Note: Sheridan programs are regularly reviewed and updated in response to the changing business environment. This results in courses being added and dropped from programs, including courses students may have already taken. In such cases, our policy is to evaluate program completion against the program as it presently stands, and as it was when the student began. However, students who have completed courses which are no longer part of the program must finish their diploma within two years, or the new requirements will supersede those courses and only the new will be acceptable.

Students who have taken:

  • 3 General Education Elective (instead of 2)

must complete their diploma before September, 2012 to use the third general education elective and be exempt from taking INFO31787 Accounting Information Systems. (previously a Business elective; effective Fall 2010 it becomes a compulsory course)

If unsure about your status in light of these changes, email your coordinator for clarification. (see below for contact information)
