Business - General

ONTARIO COLLEGE DIPLOMA

Business – General is aimed at students who are at an early stage in their business knowledge. The focus is on helping each student understand business basics. This provides a rich foundation upon which to build an understanding of the functions of business to help each student develop as a business leader.

Students training for careers in the fast-paced world of business need the well-rounded education that Sheridan Business programs provide. Experience a challenging learning environment led by faculty with practical business experience. In addition to subject specific expertise, our programs develop management potential, human relations skills, problem-solving abilities and foster a realistic approach toward the business world. The Business – General Diploma provides a solid base for student success.

Many of these courses are also accepted for credit by the following professional associations:

  • Certified General Accountants of Ontario (CGA)
  • Canadian Institute of Bookkeeping (CIB)
  • Canadian Institute of Entrepreneurship (CIE)
  • Canadian Institute of Management (CIM)
  • Canadian Institute of Traffic and Transportation (CITT)
  • Canadian Payroll Association (CPA)
  • Credit Union Institute of Canada (CUIC)

It is recommended that you complete the Sheridan Certificate – Business before working toward the completion of the Diploma Program.

Students may also choose to major in Accounting or Marketing.

If courses are offered in levels (e.g., Accounting 1 and Accounting 2), it is recommended that you register in Level 2 as soon as possible upon successful completion of Level 1.

Note: Sheridan programs are regularly reviewed and updated in response to the changing business environment. This results in courses being added and dropped from programs, including courses students may have already taken. In such cases, our policy is to evaluate program completion against the program as it presently stands, and as it was when the student began. However, students who have completed courses which are no longer part of the program must finish their diploma within two years, or the new requirements will supersede those courses and only the new will be acceptable.

Students who have taken:

BUSM22770The International Environment
MKTG21037Building Business-to-Business Relationships

must complete their diploma before September 2012 to use these courses.

If unsure about your status in light of these changes, email your coordinator for clarification. (See below for contact information.)
