Human Resource Management

SHERIDAN CERTIFICATE

Curriculum

Successfully complete all nine of the courses in this program, and apply for your certificate. In addition to earning a certificate from Sheridan, students may also apply these courses toward a nationally recognized designation of CHRP (Certified Human Resource Professional) awarded by the Human Resources Professional Association (HRPA).The courses are offered in both in-class and online formats. You are not restricted to taking the courses in just one format, offering you the flexibility to choose the format for each course that works best for your circumstances. We recommend that students register for no more than 2 courses per semester.

Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent or mature student status

IMPORTANT NOTICE:

Future Admission Requirements to earn the CHRP designation:

As of January 1, 2011, those who are pursing the professional designation of CHRP, will be required to provide HRPA with documentation verifying completion of a university degree.

Students who do not have a University degree, and working towards a Sheridan certificate may continue to complete their certificate but will not be eligible to go on to earn a CHRP designation until after they have earned a University degree. For further information regarding the CHRP certificate process, please consult the CHRP certification handbook at http://www.hrpa.ca/OfficeOfTheRegistrar/Pages/certification.aspx

* For HRPA to recognize your completed Sheridan courses, you must attain a program average of 70% with no individual course mark below 65%.

Advanced Standing Information: If you have taken a similar course at another Post-Secondary institution within the last five years and achieved a minimum grade of ‘C’, you may apply for Advanced Standing. Complete an Advanced Standing Form available from the Office of the Registrar and attach corresponding transcripts and course outlines. The National Knowledge Exam (NKE) preparation workshop is a highly interactive workshop, led by senior level Human Resources Professionals using study materials written by practicing HR Professionals, is an ideal way to prepare for the NKE exam required by HRPA.
