Administrative Assistant

SHERIDAN CERTIFICATE

PLEASE NOTE: This program is under review and the curriculum for this certificate will be changing in the Fall 2011 semester. In order to use these courses towards the certificate, you must complete all courses by August. 2011.

Are you considering a career as an Administrative Assistant? Become a valuable member of the modern office team! Employment opportunities exist in public administration, finance, insurance, real estate and education; computer consulting and other business services; and retail trade, manufacturing and construction.

Administrative Assistants prepare, edit and format documents, arrange meetings, distribute correspondence, respond to inquiries, operate office equipment and maintain record management systems.

Develop the skills required to succeed in an entry-level administrative position. Learn administrative procedures and document processing, Microsoft Office applications, interpersonal and problem-solving skills, plus organizational and time management skills.

Note: The online (Ontario Learn) MS application courses cannot be applied to this Sheridan Certificate.

Curriculum

You must successfully complete the following six courses in the recommended sequence.

Note: Prerequisites must be met. Sheridan reserves the right to reassess previously granted credits more than four years old to ensure their relevancy at the time of graduation.

Admission Requirements

If your keyboarding speed is less than 20 nwpm, and /or you have little or no experience using Windows, you should take OADM70000 Computer Basics and Keyboarding as your first course.

Administrative Assistant, Executive Assistant, Microsoft Office Applications - Information Night

Information Sessions provide an opportunity to meet with Program Coordinators to ask questions, receive advice, and make informed decisions enabling you to reach your academic goals. These sessions are available free of charge and will start promptly at the time indicated. No appointment is necessary.
