Executive Assistant

SHERIDAN CERTIFICATE

PLEASE NOTE: This program is under review and the curriculum for this certificate will be changing in the Fall 2011 semester. In order to use these courses towards the certificate, you must complete all courses by August. 2011.

Are you an Administrative Assistant ready to enhance your career; improve your skills, and handle more responsibility with confidence? Take the next step to become an Executive Assistant. This certificate will build your confidence and improve your professional skills in order to provide administrative support to business executives and professional teams in private and public organizations.

Note: The online (Ontario Learn) MS application courses cannot be applied to this Sheridan Certificate.

Curriculum

You must successfully complete the following six courses in the recommended sequence. Note: Prerequisites must be met. Sheridan reserves the right to reassess previously granted credits more than four years old to ensure their relevancy at the time of graduation.

Admission Requirements

Either

  1. Successful completion of the Sheridan Certificate - Administrative Assistant Program OR
  2. A combination of the following three Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) Exams: Word 2007 Introduction, Word 2007 Advanced and Excel 2007 Introduction and a portfolio containing the following:
  • Current resume (outlining 3-5 years related work experience)
  • Current detailed job description
  • Two letters of recommendation from current or previous employers

Submit your portfolio to the Continuing Education Office at the Trafalgar Campus, Monday to Friday ATTENTION: Debbie Sanche, c/o Jacquie Walsh.

Note: Option #2 does not grant you the Administrative Assistant Certificate. It only provides you with the Admission Requirements to enter into the Executive Assistant Certificate Program.

Administrative Assistant, Executive Assistant, Microsoft Office Applications - Information Night

Information Sessions provide an opportunity to meet with Program Coordinators to ask questions, receive advice, and make informed decisions enabling you to reach your academic goals. These sessions are available free of charge and will start promptly at the time indicated. No appointment is necessary.
