French - Conversational Proficiency

The French - Conversational Proficiency Program offers a comprehensive selection of courses for all learners from beginners with no knowledge of French to advanced students wanting to maintain and improve their fluency.

Students are advised to register at least two weeks prior to the beginning of classes.

Text/Materials Requirements

All levels of the French - Conversational Proficiency Certificate Program use the same text, compact disc, and workbook: Bonne Route by P. deMéo, E. Gesner, and J. Brown (published by Harcourt, Brace and Company, Canada), and is available at the College Bookstores.

You must successfully complete the following courses in order:

* Advanced standing may be granted upon the successful completion of an oral (by phone) challenge test. To obtain the certificate, you must complete French Intermediate 2, French Intermediate 3, French Advanced 1 and French Advanced  2. Admission Requirements

Students with no knowledge of French or very limited conversational skills should register in LANG70025 French Beginner 1 or LANG70026 French Beginner 2. Students who possess some fluency are asked to take a short oral placement test before registering to determine their appropriate level. This test is given over the telephone at no cost to the student.
