Financial Planning - NEW

RECOGNITION OF ACHIEVEMENT

Work towards your Certified Financial Planner* (CFP®) credential through Sheridan’s partnership with Advocis and CCH Canadian Ltd. and begin a rewarding career helping people reach their financial goals. Those who would like to learn to manage their own financial affairs in an increasingly complex world may also find this program to be of interest.

The CFP® certification is the industry’s gold standard in financial planning. CFP® professionals are the largest identifiable body of licensed financial planners in Canada. Those who meet the strict standard for the CFP® credential may work independently or find opportunities with financial planning companies, life insurance companies, banks, trust companies, accounting firms, and other lending institutions.

Note: The Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) certification is awarded by the Financial Planning Standards Council (FPSC) to those who have met its educational standards, passed the FPSC’s Financial Planning Examinations (FPE1 and FPE2), satisfied a work experience requirement, and agreed to abide by the FPSC Code of Ethics.

Students who achieve a minimum of 60% in each of four courses listed below will have met the educational standard to write the Financial Planning Examination Level 1 (FPE1). Refer to the Financial Planning Standards Council website for current information regarding eligibility to complete the CFP® Program www.fpsc.ca/cfp-certification

The purchase of a course text is mandatory for all courses in the Financial Planning Program. You will be required to provide proof of purchase to your instructor no later than the third scheduled class. **Note: FINA50213 Financial Planning Fundamentals must be completed first.

Related Course:

Capstone Course - Financial Planning. Those who successfully complete the Capstone Course will have met the educational requirement to qualify to write the FPSC’s Financial Planning Exam Level 2 (FPE2). This course is currently being developed and is expected to be available in 2011.
