Community Safety
Community Safety is a growing concern for all citizens. The courses listed have been developed for the community planner, designer, police officer, the security industry, retailers and others to reduce the incidence of crime. The Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) course is internationally recognized and adopted by many North American municipalities and planning departments. Private Security and Investigative Services Act (PSISA) Beginning April 15, 2010, the new Training and Testing Regulation will be in effect. It is a critical component to the enhancement of the PSISA as it will ensure that security guards possess the basic knowledge and skills to perform their duties. All new applicants will be required to have successfully completed basic training and passed the ministry test prior to applying for a security licence. The course Private Policing (PSRV28081) has been developed to meet the requirements of the PSISA. Students will be required to complete a Consent and Release of Liability Form Regarding Training at the start of the course. The College will submit this form to the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services. On completion of the course, students will be required to arrange a testing appointment with the Ministry’s test delivery vendor, Serco-DES Inc at http://www.ontariosecuritytesting.ca/. For full details on the requirements of the PSISA go to the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services website at http://bit.ly/dBLt3K.
